Homosassa is located in Citrus County, Florida and is a very small town with a population of about 2,500 residents. Much of Homosassa’s economy is based on tourists who visit the ocean or visit the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park which is home to a number of manatees, and other wildlife including hippopotamus’. There are also several small restaurants and shopping centers in the area.

Homosassa is predominately residential with many homes located along the coast. Homes in the area are more spread out, rather then displayed in typical subdivision fashion. There are also quite a few homes located right on the coast and along the Homosassa Bay. There are no major highways or interstates in the city, however residents travel to and from the city from the main road Burnt Bridge Road or West Central Street, which both lead to Highways 98.
